Trans-Boundary Water Politics between India and Bhutan: A Case Study of Hydro-power Projects
Introduction: In 1949, India and Bhutan Treaty of friendship and cooperation was signed, which provided for perpetual peace and friendship, economic cooperation and free trade, and equal justice for citizens of both countries. India-Bhutan bilateral relations were the treaty of friendship and cooperation signed in 1949 between the two countries, which was revised in February 2007. Bhutan is known for its natural beauty, forest conservation, Gross National Happiness, great culture and heritage and biodiversity. Bhutan covers 75 percent forest area of the country which is one of the large biodiversity places in the south Asia. The most abundant natural resource is timber, water resources and Non-wood Forest Products (NWFP).
